Want kids to become better readers?
Teach them to choose books that are just right for them.
Provide them with lots of choices and books of interest.
Give them time to read in class.
No book reports. No quizzes or tests. No summary writing of each chapter. No labeling of books by reading level.
Give them time to discuss their choices with classmates.
Have them keep a list of books they want to read.
